Intramurals Correction:

Apologies but it is SOCCER intramurals (not volleyball) for Grade 5 and 6 students that are running Tuesdays and Wednesdays until the end of November.

Very Merry Market

Three weeks to go until our annual Very Merry Market on Saturday, November 24! The market is a wonderful chance to come out and support Maplehurst PS and socialize with neighbours, families and friends from our community. There will be food, vendors, games, and more! Mark it on your calendar. More details will follow in the next few weeks.

Maplehurst Holiday Food Drive

Maplehurst Public School, Halton Police and The Compassion Society are working together to make our annual Food Drive a success! Starting on November 5th 2018, every classroom will have collection boxes for donations to our annual holiday food drive.  Please help your child give to this important community cause and send non-perishable food items or toiletries.  The drive will run until November 24th.  Please look at the list below and add some of these to your shopping list. The class with the most donations will win a special prize!

PLEASE REMEMBER THAT FOOD BANKS CANNOT USE EXPIRED ITEMS

Items needed most are: 100% Juice,  oatmeal cereals, canned fruits and vegetables, jam, rice, deodorant, soap, shampoo, toilet paper, baby wipes and dish soap.

Thank you for helping Maplehurst to build a better community.

Progress Reports

Progress reports come home on November 19. Prior to that, you will receive a conference time request form to be returned to you child’s homeroom teacher. Priority will be given to scheduling sibling interviews so that families do not have to make multiple trips to the school that week.

Outdoor Classroom

We have successfully obtained a grant from the TD Friends of the Environment organization to support the creation of an outdoor learning space! Between the grant, School Council, and School fundraising efforts we will be able to build this awesome new outdoor space next spring.  It will incorporate benches and a large stump made from the large maple tree on the blacktop that had to be taken down a year ago. This will provide a meaningful repurposing of the tree that had stood proudly for a century in our yard. More details to follow...
